Travelling to Cape Town is straightforward, with excellent international connections and a range of convenient transport options to help you explore the city and its surrounding attractions during WorldPride 2028.
Getting to Cape Town
Cape Town International Airport is the primary gateway for international and domestic travellers and is located approximately 20 kilometres from the city centre. South Africa offers visa-free entry for citizens of many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, for stays of up to 90 days. Visitors are encouraged to check the latest visa requirements with their nearest South African embassy or consulate before travelling.
Airport Transfers
There are several convenient ways to travel between Cape Town International Airport and your accommodation. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Bolt are widely available and offer a safe, reliable and cost-effective option. The MyCiTi bus also provides a dedicated airport service connecting travellers to the city centre, while private airport transfers can be booked in advance for added convenience, particularly during the busy WorldPride period.
Getting Around Cape Town
Cape Town is easy to explore using a variety of transport options. Uber and Bolt are the preferred choice for most visitors, offering convenient travel throughout the city. The MyCiTi bus network serves many of the city’s popular destinations, including the City Bowl, V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay and the airport. For those wishing to explore the Cape Peninsula, Cape Winelands or other attractions beyond the city, hiring a car provides greater flexibility. While neighbourhoods such as De Waterkant, the V&A Waterfront and the City Bowl are easily explored on foot, travelling between different areas is generally best done by public transport or ride-hailing services.
