WorldPride Cape Town 2028 marks a historic milestone as the first WorldPride to be hosted on the African continent. Awarded to Cape Town Pride by the members of InterPride in October 2024, this landmark event represents a celebration of diversity, inclusion and human rights while showcasing Africa’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ communities to the world.
Bringing together visitors, activists, artists, organisations and allies from across the globe, WorldPride Cape Town 2028 will celebrate progress, inspire meaningful dialogue and create a lasting legacy of equality, unity and hope for future generations.
About WorldPride 2028
WorldPride is the world’s leading international LGBTQIA+ event, bringing together communities from across the globe to celebrate diversity, promote equality and champion human rights. Held every two years in a different host city, the event combines celebration with advocacy through a programme of cultural experiences, community events, educational initiatives and a global human rights conference. It provides a platform for Pride organisations, activists, artists, leaders and allies to connect, collaborate and inspire positive change.
In 2028, Cape Town will proudly become the first city in Africa to host WorldPride, marking a historic milestone for both South Africa and the continent as it welcomes the world to celebrate inclusion, visibility and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

For more than three decades, Cape Town Pride has delivered annual celebrations that bring together local communities and international visitors through a vibrant programme of events that promote visibility, inclusion and acceptance. InterPride is the international association of Pride organisations, connecting more than 540 member organisations across over 75 countries to strengthen the global LGBTQIA+ movement through collaboration, knowledge sharing and mutual support. As the owner and governing body of the WorldPride programme, InterPride awards the hosting licence to member organisations through a democratic voting process.
